The departments of Conservation & Restoration and of Art History of the UvA invite you to the lecture

Materials, Techniques, Recipes. Where History of Science and Art Technology Meet

by prof. dr. Sven Dupré on Friday 28th of March, at 3.15 PM in the Doelenzaal van de University Library (UB), Singel 425 Amsterdam.

Sven Dupré is the research director of the project Art and Knowledge in Pre-Modern Europe at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin. This research group investigates the diverse contributions of artists to the development of knowledge. (see http://www.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de/en/staff/members/dupre).

Recent initiatives to bridge the worlds of art and the sciences undertaken at the University of Amsterdam and elsewhere, make it opportune that prof. Dupré explains and presents the scope and results of his innovating international project. Even more so because of the plans to establish an exchange and other forms of collaboration between the UvA and the Max Planck Institute.

Drinks are served after the lecture.
