Dear colleagues,
We would like to ask for your support; some of you we have already asked directly in Aix: In Tübingen, we are working on a long-term project to explore early modern translations into Latin. As part of our work, we have collected until now ca. 1,000 translations into Latin, only of fictional texts. Now we are extending our search to include scientific, political, religious and all other printed texts in Latin translation (1450-1910 ca.). A provisional overview of our work is available as an Excel file on our website (https://uni-tuebingen.de/de/231695).
We still see a deficit, particularly for the less studied regions of Europe, for smaller languages and non-European languages, due to a lack of cataloguing and language skills. And this is where we need
your support: have you ever come across translations into Latin in your field of work? If so, we would be very grateful if you could let us know. Ideally, you could provide us with the author and translator,
short title, place of printing, publisher, year and a location reference; but usually there is less information available, and we are also happy to receive any fragmentary information or literature references! Every contribution will be acknowledged in the catalogue.
